Twenty years ago, if you had said that we would be able to carry around pictures in order to show them to other people without actually having the pictures with us (physically), you would have been visited by some nice men in white coats. Nowadays, social networks and the amount of software, like Socusoft's Photo to Video Converter, make this possible.

The installation is quick and you just have to download an 8 Mb kit, or, in twenty years ago speech, the program will magically appear on your computer in a few seconds.

Slideshow creating seems to be Socusoft's thing. You can find similar software, like DVD Photo Slideshow, on their web site. They all look and feel the same, but they let you create a slideshow for different purposes. Photo to Video Converter is the member of the family that lets you create slideshows that are playable on mobile devices and web sites. If you're familiar with other slideshow creating Socusoft programs, then you'll feel right at home with this one. If you're not familiar, you don't need to worry. The interface is really easy yo understand. If you travel 20 years back in time and show it to someone, he/she will get the hang of it in no time.

The interface is organized so that you can create a slideshow in a number of steps, all in order. First of all, you have to browse for your image directory, add them, select some transition effects and a music track for the background, preview your show and, finally, export it. You can choose from a wide range of output types like MP4, MKV, 3GP, MPEG-1, 2, 4 and others. Unfortunately, the software's free version only allows you to export in MPEG-4 and MP2 formats.

Pros

With various, similar software, Socusoft seems to know what to do when it comes to slideshow creating. And they do it in a way that any member of the family can use them. There's no need for advanced knowledge or experience.

Cons

Advanced users may find the program a bit too simple because everything is done for you and there's no way to do something manually. Besides that, the free version only lets you export your work in MPEG-4 and MP2 formats. The only way Socusoft's Photo to Video Converter, or other software, can make it easier to create good looking slideshows is to send an employee to do it for you.
